Storytellers and historical reenactors will celebrate the heritage of Newkirk, OK, and the life of town icon Charlie Adams at the 16th annual Charlie Adams Day festival. Thanks to a grant from Oklahoma Humanities, nine storytellers and reenactors, five of which will be women, will portray citizens from the early days of Newkirk and Kay County. The characters and storytellers will explore a broad time period of early pioneer days from before the Cherokee Outlet Land Run, statehood, and the military service of women in WWII.

The free festival also features live music, children's games and activities, a barbecue contest, a fast-draw competition, Dutch oven cooking demonstration, arts and craft booths, and a classic car show.
