Oklahoma City University will host Arizona's first poet laureate Alberto Rios, April 3rd for the 20th annual Thatcher Hoffman Smith Poetry Series. Alberto Rios is best known for his depictions of Mexican American culture along the U.S./Mexico border in such poems as "The Border: A Double Sonnet," "Refugio's Hair," and the much anthologized story "The Secret Lion." 

10:00 am to 11:00 am - informal reading and discussion of writing process
6:45 pm - 7:45 pm - Open mic lead by Terri Cummings
8:00 pm - 9:00 pm - Formal reading followed by a book signing
