EXHIBIT OPENING: Saturday, February 23, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, featuring a book signing, live music, and barbecue.

The gathering will celebrate the creation of the newest exhibit, sponsored in part by Oklahoma Humanities, at the Rentiesville Museum, located at the birthplace of Oklahoma Blues Legend D.C. Minner (1935-2008). For this exhibit, Ms. Selby Minner and other volunteers have interviewed and documented the often overlooked stories of individuals born and raised in the nearly 100 black towns and communities founded in Oklahoma from 1890 to 1930. The exhibit features two large US maps showing the stories of many notable individuals from these towns, including many musicians who went on to perform with some of the most famous and notable musical groups of the 20th century.

This program is free and open to the public.  The museum is usually open on Sundays from April through October and by appointment.
