Event Details
Oklahoma City University's 26th annual Thatcher Hoffman Smith Poetry series features the 24th US Poet Laureate, Ada Limón. This public reading by Limon is free and open to the public and will be followed by a book signing.
Limón's poetry ranges in topics from processing major grief and loss to small moments of realization that occur during simple daily routines. She promotes the idea that "reading and writing poetry can situate us in the natural world." For her, poems lead to healing, and each book we encounter is a "new way of looking at the world."
Limon's newest edited collection is You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World. The collection is described as "contemplating seascapes, backyards, national borders, and built environments where life sings beneath the surface."
