Oklahomans are no strangers to rodeo and cowboy culture. Many, though, are unfamiliar with its connection to the LGBTQ+ community. The University of Central Oklahoma will host Dr. Elyssa Ford whose work expands the history of rodeo and rodeo performers beyond the typical demographic. Her discussion will enlighten Western history enthusiasts in Oklahoma to the wild west roots of gender performance and the role of queer "folx" in the rodeo circuit.
